Manitoba Possible’s Self-Help Clearinghouse supports a network of independent self-help organizations with administrative and consultative services at our Sherbrook location in Winnipeg. Self-help is based on the idea that individuals with lived experiences possess invaluable support that professionals cannot provide. Organizations who are part of Manitoba Possible’s Self-Help Clearinghouse are small, self-governing, and inclusive, meeting regularly to enable members to exchange experiences, and resources.
who is eligible.
Organizations must be an incorporated non-profit, serve people with medical or disability-based concerns, and serve one or more of these primary functions:
Providing social support
Sharing information and educating
Forming of a positive identity
Creating a sense of affiliation and community
Facilitating personal growth and transformation
Advocating and collective empowerment
Encouraging participation in the areas of giving help, getting help or learning to help oneself
