In 2020, Manitoba Possible celebrated its 70th year serving Manitobans with disabilities and we celebrated in a big way.  We said goodbye to the name Society for Manitobans with Disabilities and hello to a new name that better serves our clients. We also launched a provincial awareness campaign 70 Ways to Make Manitoba Possible  and received over 150 ideas from individuals, organizations and workplaces.

After the 70 Ways challenge, we realized we needed a way to recognize folks and organizations in the community who are already making their surrounding inclusive and accessible by turning IDEAS into ACTION.

The Paint the Town Possible (PTP) campaign was born, and is just beginning! We decided it was time to go back to our community of Manitobans and ask them to Paint the Town Possible. You can do that by:

  • Taking action on one of the 70 Ways Challenge submissions

  • Take an interest in larger things, like policy and legislation

    • You can do this in the workplace, in your sports league, in your community centres, too!

  • Make a donation to help a Manitoba Possible client see what’s possible

  • Advocate for accessible spaces, trails, events, workplaces, and more

We want to hear how you are going to #PaintTheTownPossible - join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn!

We Spoke to Community Partners About Painting the Town Possible

Our first conversation was with Unit 204 Production Services, who installed accessible ramp and features to the washrooms in their studio when we visited to film our Manitoba Possible launch video.

Our second conversation was with Winnipeg Airport Authority, who has recently implemented a Passenger Rehearsal Program!

Our third conversation was with Assiniboine Park Conservancy, who has made several improvements to their spaces as well as partnering with Clean Ventures.

We caught up with Beautiful Plains School Division who created a multi-division ASL learning opportunity for staff to support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
